Folly Beach Fishing Charters – November Inshore Fishing Report
November brings some of the best inshore action of the entire year around Folly Beach, as cooler temperatures push bait into the creeks and our gamefish feed aggressively ahead of winter. The fall transition is in full swing, and anglers are seeing strong numbers of redfish, trout, and black drum throughout the marsh.
Redfish
Redfish are schooling tight on the flats, and sight-fishing opportunities improve with clearer water. On sunny mid-day tides, large schools can be seen pushing wakes across shallow oyster edges.
Best baits: Z-man plastics, cut mullet, or live shrimp under a popping cork.
Hot pattern: Low-tide tailers around shell rakes have been very consistent.
Speckled Trout
Trout fishing peaks in November, and this year is no exception. Most fish are holding along creek mouths, drop-offs, and current seams where shrimp and glass minnows are stacked up.
Best baits: Live shrimp, mud minnows, and suspending hard baits on moving tides.
Tip: Early mornings on an incoming tide have been producing fast action.
Black Drum
Black drum are plentiful around deeper docks and oyster bars. Cooler water has them feeding heavily on crustaceans.
Best baits: Fresh shrimp, fiddler crabs, and small chunks of blue crab.
Flounder
A few late-season flounder are still around, especially near sandy points and deeper creek bends. Most are smaller, but keepers are still possible.
Best baits: Mud minnows or soft plastics worked slowly along the bottom.
Water Conditions
Water clarity improves significantly through November, making it easier to target fish visually. Temperatures drop into the lower 60s, which pushes gamefish into predictable funnel points and deeper creek holes.
Overall Outlook
With active fish, cooler weather, and less boat traffic, November is a prime month to get on the water. The action remains strong right up until the first major cold fronts of December
