Folly Beach Inshore Fishing Report – April 2025
Folly Beach Inshore Fishing Report – April 2025
Brought to you by Folly Beach Fishing Charters
Spring is in full swing here on the Folly, and the inshore bite has been decent. With water temps climbing into the 70s and schools of baitfish pushing into the estuaries, we’ve seen a surge in action across the board. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just getting your feet wet, now is the time to hit the water.
Redfish
The redfish bite has been good this month. We’re finding singles and small pods cruising the flooded grass on higher tides—classic spring tailing red action. On lower tides, they’re staging in deeper creek bends and around oyster mounds. We’ve had great success throwing live shrimp and mud minnows under popping corks, but artificial lures like Gulp! shrimp and Z-Man soft plastics are getting the job done too.
Speckled Trout
Trout are waking up in a big way. Look for them holding in deeper pockets with moving water—creek mouths, current seams, and shell points are prime. We’ve been catching a decent amount using live shrimp and light jigheads with paddle tails in natural colors. The topwater bite is just starting to heat up in the early mornings on calm days.
Flounder
Flatties are starting to show up with more consistency, especially around sandy drop-offs, creek mouths, and docks. They’re still a little sluggish, but a well-placed mud minnow or a slow-rolled soft plastic along the bottom can get a reaction. We’re expecting that bite to get even better in the coming weeks as water temps continue to rise.
Black Drum & Others
Black drum are hanging around docks and deeper structure, with a few brutes in the mix. Fresh cut shrimp on a Carolina rig is your best bet. We’ve also seen some early action from bluefish and even a few Spanish mackerel pushing into the harbor and inlet edges—nice bonus fish to keep things exciting.
